WBAMS runs on an ordinary Linux hosting account: PHP 8.3 or newer with the free ionCube Loader, a MySQL or MariaDB database, Apache or Nginx with HTTPS, and a cron job.
| Component | Requirement | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| PHP | 8.3 or newer | 8.3, 8.4 or 8.5, which WBAMS is tested on |
| ionCube Loader | 15 or newer (15.5 or newer on PHP 8.5) | Free, and switched on among the PHP extensions of most hosting control panels |
| Database | MySQL-compatible, InnoDB | Its own database and user |
| Web server | Apache or Nginx | HTTPS, URL rewriting and compression |
| Scheduler | Command-line PHP and cron | Every five minutes |
| Memory | 64 MB (the installer checks it) | 128 MB or more; 256 MB for reports, imports and updates |
PHP extensions
The installer checks for the ionCube Loader, cURL with SSL, JSON, PDO, PDO MySQL, GD, XML and Sodium. Sodium is required: it verifies the signed license responses. OpenSSL, Mbstring, Intl, Fileinfo and ZIP help where available.
Nginx
The protective rules WBAMS ships are an Apache .htaccess. On Nginx, write the equivalent refusals yourself.
Network
- A valid TLS certificate, with HTTP redirected to HTTPS.
- Outbound HTTPS for license checks, payment providers, sign-in providers and update checks.
- A current CA certificate store. Never work around a TLS error by switching certificate checks off.
