Set up the scheduler (cron)

How-to

Nothing recurring happens without the scheduler: no invoices, no reminders, no suspensions, no imported ticket replies. It is one cron job every five minutes.

  1. Add the cron job

In cPanel open Advanced › Cron Jobs and add, every five minutes (*/5 * * * *):
    /usr/bin/php -q /home/USER/public_html/scheduler/scheduler.php

  2. Use the right PHP

Run /usr/bin/php -v. The PHP cron uses is often older than the website's; use the full path of the right version if it is.

  3. Add the mail import

If customers reply to ticket emails (they will), add a second job on the same schedule for scheduler/pop.php.

  4. Confirm it ran

After the daily automation hour (9am until you change it), the dashboard's Last Automation Run shows a time and System Health stops warning about cron.

Once a day is not enough

The daily work starts only on a run that falls inside the chosen hour. A job scheduled once a day at another time never starts it.

Each run does only what is due, and a task still running is not started twice, so the short interval costs nothing. If you must trigger it over HTTP, set $cron_key in settings.php; without the key the address answers 404.
