A donation is a gift, not a purchase. It never acquires a due date, a payment reminder or a late fee, and the donor gets a Donation Receipt rather than a paid invoice.
- Pending
- Recorded, awaiting payment.
- Received
- Paid. The donor receives a Donation Receipt.
- Processing
- A payment has started and the outcome is not final.
- Declined
- Refused, or the payment failed and will not be retried.
- Refunded
- Money went back.
- Canceled
- A monthly commitment ended. Gifts already received are unaffected.
The ledger
Donations › All Donations lists every gift with donor, cause, frequency, amount, status, invoice and next gift date, filterable by any of them. The counters above it count what the filter shows: matching gifts, active monthly commitments, paid occurrences and gifts awaiting payment.
Acting on a gift
- Record a gift for an existing client or a new donor; an administrator's entry is not held to the minimum or the campaign end date.
- Accept or decline a pending gift.
- Edit it while it is pending.
- Refund a received gift, resume a canceled monthly one, or re-send the receipt.
