Members, membership types and policy

Reference

The roll of everyone who belongs, the kinds of membership and what they cost, and the rules for numbers, dues and lapsing, set once.

Standing

Active
In good standing.
Inactive
On the roll, not currently participating.
Lapsed
Dues ran out and were not renewed.
Archived
Kept for the record, out of the working list.

Membership types

Members › Membership Types: a name, the dues and how often they are charged (one time, monthly, quarterly, every six months or yearly). A type with no dues is free and creates no billing at all. Renewals are anchored to the day somebody joined.

Membership Policy

  • Joining: number prefix, digits and starting point; the type and standing new records start with.
  • Dues and renewal: raise dues automatically with the nightly run, how many days early, and a reminder before renewal.
  • Standing: an active membership with an unpaid dues invoice lapses after the grace period you set, and comes back on its own when paid.
  • Self service: what members see when they sign in: contact details, dues and renewal, giving history and documents.

Lapsing removes standing, not access

A lapsed member can still sign in, which is what lets them pay and put it right without needing you.
