A quote is a priced proposal with a stage and a valid-until date. When the client accepts, it becomes an invoice rather than living beside one.
Where
Billing › Quotes lists every quote with its stage, total and dates; each client's Quotes tab shows theirs. A quote can be written for an existing client or for a prospect whose details you type in.
Stages
- Draft
- Being written.
- Delivered
- Sent to the client.
- On Hold
- Paused.
- Accepted
- Agreed by the client.
- Lost / Dead
- Not going ahead.
Working with a quote
- Line items with quantities, prices, discounts and tax.
- View or email it as a PDF; emailing it moves it to Delivered.
- Clients see their quotes in the portal and can accept them there.
- Convert to Invoice raises one invoice, or a deposit and a balance, from the accepted quote.
Tip
Line items, totals and the PDF reflect the last saved state. Save before you email.
