Four ways to end or reshape an account, with very different consequences.
- Merge
- Combines two duplicate accounts into one. Irreversible: be sure which one survives.
- Move
- Transfers a service to a different owner without recreating it.
- Close
- Ends the relationship and keeps the history. Closing is not deleting.
- Delete
- Removes the account and its records. Export what you must keep first.
Before deleting
Understand what goes with the account: invoices, transactions, tax records, tickets and audit history. Closing is usually the right answer.
